Oil lamps or lanterns-The invention is described in connection with a hand signal lamp in which the rotary frame c, with its opening e for white light and its coloured glasses d, is retained in the required position by the engagement of a projection g on a spring clip f with holes h in the frame c, and is prevented from becoming separated frum the casing a by a second clip i. The reservoir k is maintained in position by the engagement of a sleeve l with a rod m, the reflector n is adjustably mounted on the upright o and the pinion s for raising and lowering the wick is actuated from the outside of the lantern by means of bevel gearing and a spindle passing through a tube in the reservoir to the external thumb-button w.
