Antillas - Magaluf - Mallorca

The Antillas was built in 1970, back when there were only a couple of hotels in the resort - the Antillas and its sister hotel the Barbados were state of the art! It was extensively refurbished during the winter of 2015.... so has changed a lot to keep up with the times.

To celebrate my 50th year we took a five day break to Mallorca. We stayed in the Sol **** Antillas in Magaluf. It is situated in a slightly elevated position in one of the quieter areas of the otherwise very lively resort of Magaluf on the south west coast of Majorca... but as we went just before Christmas in 2004 it was VERY quiet - like a ghost town!

The hotel is approximately 25km west of the capital Palma and the airport, and 800 metres from the Magaluf resort centre where the wide selection of bars, restaurants, shops and nightlife makes the resort no longer 'my cup of tea'.... but because almost everything was closed it was lovely.... and we were lucky with the weather - cold but bright - ideal for walking.

	We packed a lot into the five days - Katy really took part in the evening entertainment - to her father's embarrasment - and she played on the Playstation 2 (what a surprise), was proved dangerous with a pistol, played giant chess and snooker with her dad and had fun on the Flintstone playground. As there were only a handful of passengers on the flight back we had a wonderful return flight - we could move around as we wished and the cabin crew were in a festive mood...
