Cala San Vicente is a quiet resort on the scenic north west coast of Majorca. The hotel we stayed at was built in 1960, and I think it was just called the 'Hotel San Vicente' back in the day when we stayed there in 1999. The hotel is approximately 60km north of the capital Palma and the airport, and positioned a short walk from the commercial centre of the resort, where there are a small selection of bars, restaurants and shops. It was three star hotel when we stayed there and had no air conditioning - we had to have the patio door to the balcony open at night as it was very hot - but we loved the traditional Spanish decor - dark wood, suits of armour and leather chairs. We liked the food and service and the pool was excellent. It has a wonderful location overlooking the Cala Molins beach. It was a very quiet, laid back hotel and the children's club was held at the neighbouring hotel Don Pedro. Katy enjoyed going to the mini-disco there every evening. It was extensively refurbished during the winter of 2015 and is now called Hotel Simar and is part of the Globales Group of hotels. It has been upgraded to a 4 star hotel - so I assume all of the decor is now 'modern' and it has air conditioned rooms.
