Occupation: Hollowware Turner

Hollowware is hollow articles of cookware or crockery, such as pots, kettles, and jugs.

Metal hollowware consisted of metal objects such as pans and buckets that were hollow in the centre because they were designed as containers. In the Wolverhampton area there were many firms that utilised the metal sheeting produced by local foundaries to make useful houshold commodities, such as bowls, pitchers, teapots, and trays, in fact anything that serves as a container or receptacle.

The hollowware could be made of precious metal such as silver, but for everyday use iron buckets and pans were made.

Hollowware was also made in glass and china.
